Labeling Binder Tabs for Three Generations

The Jeong household in Seocho asked for tabs that grandmother could read at arm’s length without glasses. We used 14-point Hangul labels with a smaller English line beneath: “교육 · Education fund.”

Principles we follow

Name the obligation, not the account number. “Apartment maintenance” beats “KB 1234.”

Limit active tabs to twelve. More sections mean more empty sleeves and confusion.

Color only the seasonally heavy tabs. Chuseok gifts and year-end tax slips get gold edges; daily groceries stay plain.

Add a signature line on shared reserves. Adult children who contribute monthly initial the ledger page when they visit.

Testing labels before printing

We tape provisional tabs during the home visit and ask each generation to fetch a sample slip. If anyone hesitates, we rename the section before the dividers are punched.

Commission details for custom tab sets appear on our Family Treasury Binder page.
